ABBEVILLE STREET PARK

Public BBQ

This compact neighbourhood park in Upper Mount Gravatt punches well above its weight, offering a surprisingly diverse range of facilities that serve the local community throughout the day. Recent renovations have enhanced the space significantly, with an expanded small dog section, additional seating, and well-placed trees that provide welcome afternoon shade. The centrepiece is a thoughtful collection of amenities: a fantastic playground perfectly sized for young children, a basketball hoop, open grassy areas for kicking a ball, and a looped footpath that's ideal for learning to ride a bike. Two separate off-leash dog park areas give canine visitors plenty of room to socialise, and the friendly atmosphere among dog owners contributes to the park's budding community feel. Families will appreciate the shaded barbecue facilities with seating, though the setup accommodates one group at a time. The park maintains a quiet, safe character during weekdays but becomes notably popular on evenings and weekends. The well-maintained grounds show no signs of graffiti, reinforcing the neighbourhood's care for the space. One notable gap: there are no toilets, which visitors consistently mention as the park's main shortcoming.
